The European New Car Assessment Program (EuNCAP) has  defined a range of star rating enhancements moving forwards:

  • From 2018 onwards Seatbelt Reminder Systems
  • From 2020 onwards - Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS)
  • From 2022 onwards - Child Presence Detection Systems in vehicle

Neteera’s core Vital Signs Monitoring system provides a solution to meeting all of these EuNCAP requirements via the integration of proprietary micro-radar based modules, which can easily be integrated into the vehicle.  Neteera’s system is able to detect passenger’s vital signs to provide indicators for occupants’ presence and status.  The vehicle’s ability to sense occupant health and wellbeing is becoming a reality today, leading to the “Empathic Cars” able to sense and react to the needs of their occupants as well as bridging the gap between the occupant and the health care system.

Existing technologies require direct contact or utilize cameras trying to detect facial expressions.  Neteera’s sensing technology provides a winning combination of contact free sensing, convergence of multiple features, the ability to be embedded in existing furniture, small form factor, low power consumption and cost effectiveness.  Neteera’s in-car sensing technology is based on using Neteera’s unique sensor to monitor micro-movements of the skin as well as the skin’s electromagnetic properties.  Our technology is developed with special attention to prevent signal noise due to motion and vibrations that exist in the car’s cockpit. 

Well-Being and Healthcare 

Current vital signs sensing technologies require direct contact or pressure and are limited in the scope of their indicators.  Neteera’s remote and contact-free sensing technology can monitor multiple cardiac indicators revealing a person’s well-being or health status: 

  • Heart / Pulse Rate
  • Respiration Rate
  • Heart Rate Interval & Variability
  • Pulse Wave Velocity

Monitoring is carried out remotely and in a contact-free manner.  This revolutionary system, which utilizes Neteera’s sub-THz micro-radar along with proprietary algorithms and software was developed in-house by Neteera.  These Well-Being indicators measure stress and fatigue, as well as being used predictively in order to alert in case of potential medical events.  The micro-radars can be integrated into a broad range of applications, from automotive through to smart consumer electronics, such as smart diagnostic furniture.  In addition, the sensors can be used in the growing home healthcare market for Elderly Monitoring, Baby Monitoring and Sleep Apnea therapy systems.

Neteera’s bio-sensing technology is based on using Neteera’s unique sensor to monitor the micro-movements of the skin as well as the skin’s electromagnetic properties. This information can be sensed through furniture, clothes and other visually opaque materials. Our technology’s sensitivity prevents signal noise due to motion to provide an accurate vital-signs readout. 

Internet of Things (IoT)

The IoT is coming but still contains a significant blind spot with regards to linking humans to the IoT. As of today, no relevant and accurate technology exists capable of sensing humans without privacy concerns raised by cameras. 

With the advent of smarter homes and infrastructure Neteera’s micro-radar will enable multiple enhanced features in the ‘home of the future’. Consider applications in smart furniture simultaneously capable of monitoring your health and wellbeing, able to sense and track your cardio-pulmonary status, as well as your mood and attention levels. These detections can easily be translated into positive actions whether simply altering the ambient lighting to brighten your mood, or switching off the television and lighting once you have fallen asleep. Moreover, should the unthinkable happen and a medical emergency arise, critical decisions could be automatically taken to summon emergency services who will arrive on scene armed with relevant vital signs information.

Today’s concealed weapons scanners are prohibitively large, costly and can only detect metallic weapons. In addition the security challenge has grown due to advanced technologies such as 3D printing, allowing non-metallic weapons to be easily produced, which can more easily be smuggled through security. 

Neteera’s concealed weapons sensing technology, will provide the basis for hand held or body worn concealed weapons detection solutions. Such systems will be cheaper, smaller and more easily implemented than those currently found in airports and will prove to be of immeasurable benefit to security and law enforcement professionals, enabling early threat detection at a safe distance preventing the need for one-on-one engagement at close quarters. 

Neteera’s concealed weapons sensing technology is based on a micro-radar chip providing a high-performance passive THz camera with high resolution which does not infringe on one’s personal privacy.



Existing imaging technology has difficulty “seeing” during inclement weather and challenging lighting conditions.  The ability to have quality and cost-effective imaging in low light and adverse weather is essential, amongst others, to the automotive, security and military markets.  Neteera’s technology has the capacity to function in such conditions, enhancing imaging capabilities for automotive sensing, safety monitors, military apparatus and CCTV cameras.

 In automotive, systems constructed around Neteera's active imaging micro-radar could enable a new generation of Surround Monitoring Systems, being easily integrated into the vehicle due to their small form factor and enabling the construction of an environmental map of the surrounding area, which has only been available today with a combination of radar or lidar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors.

 Similarly, hand held imaging systems could be utilized for victim detection by emergency services, enabling instant scanning of smoke filled rooms, at lower risk to emergency personnel.
